Grasmere & Bowness

Grasmere is a charming village right in the heart of the Lake District National Park in Cumbria. Grasmere was once the home of the famous poet William Wordsworth; maybe you can visit one of his former homes - Dove Cottage. Also in the centre of Grasmere is the churchyard of St. Oswalds Church which contains the Wordsworth family graves.

Bowness-on-Windermere is Cumbria’s most popular destination, with the town busy for much of the year. People come to enjoy the lake for sailing and watersports, or just to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the area and the town’s delightful setting. The Victorian influence can be seen everywhere - in the late 19th century, wealthy businessmen from Lancashire built large residences overlooking the lake, and many of these have now been converted to hotels.
